Treatment for Teens

Treatment for Teens

Most patients begin orthodontic treatment during the pre-teen and teen years. The optimal age to begin treatment varies from 10-16. Because adolescents are still growing and permanent teeth are finishing their eruption, this timeframe is ideal for orthodontic correction.

How long will I have to wear braces or clear aligners?

The amount of time it takes to treat your smile and your bite with braces or Invisalign depends on several factors:

  1. Biology – The severity of the problem and the amount of treatment needed to correct the problem will influence the length of time you wear braces or Invisalign.
  2. Your Role – You can influence your treatment time! Here are some things you can do to speed up the process: have a great attitude, keep your teeth and braces sparkling clean, follow directions for rubber band / elastic wear, avoiding foods that cause braces to break, and come to your regularly scheduled visits.
  3. Us! – At Walker Orthodontics we promise to do our part to keep your treatment moving as quickly and effectively as possible.

Can I straighten my teeth with Invisalign instead of braces?

Yes, times have changed and many teens are great candidates for clear aligner treatment with Invisalign Teen. You may able to straighten your teeth and not ever need to wear braces.
