Adapting to the “Next Normal” in Orthodontics

July 31, 2020

Your perfect smile is now just one click away .

As we explored in our previous blog, over the past couple months, we’ve made strategic strides to adapt to this “next normal” by pivoting our operations, while continuing to ensure compliance with rapidly evolving safety and sanitization regulations, infection control protocols and PPE standards. We diligently screen everyone who enters our space (providing wellness and temperature checks), stepped up our game in thoroughly disinfecting all non-clinical surfaces (doorknobs, light-switches, countertops, pens, etc.), made modifications to accommodate physical distancing (separation between treatment stations, partitions, etc.), and revamped our scheduling and patient preparation procedures.

Yet as infection rates continue to surge across the nation, we understand that some patients may be fearful, apprehensive, or uncomfortable coming into the clinic an in-person consultation (and that’s perfectly okay!). For this reason, we’ve reimagined the new patient experience – expanding our services to make the journey to your perfect smile a breeze in this new virtual reality.

In conjunction with our newly launched website refresh, we’re thrilled to announce our new Virtual Smile Assessment. This new feature provides patients instant access and insight – anytime of the day or night — so they can gauge whether they’re a candidate for orthodontic treatment in the comfort of their own home. The process is as easy as 1, 2, 3:

  • Follow the guided prompts to input your information, take several selfies of your smile, and hit submit!
  • Dr. Walker, in partnership with our treatment coordinator, will review your submission and design a treatment plan tailor-made to your unique needs.
  • Finally, the treatment coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a virtual visit. During this conversation, we’ll discuss your goals, what we’re seeing, what your treatment options could be, and the associated costs involved.

Yet rest assured, this is not “do-it-yourself” orthodontics. Following our virtual assessment, and before we move forward with treatment, we’ll perform a strategic diagnosis in person, taking pictures and x-rays of your teeth to confirm our approach, or adjust our strategy, as needed.

Overall, the health, safety and comfort of our patients, staff, and community continues to be our utmost priority. We’re excited to see you soon – in whatever modality you choose.
